The Bay Bridged Recording Grant / Spirit Animals

We sincerely apologize for the lack of recent updates. Fortunately, it’s for good reason. Last we spoke, we were involved in Live 105’s Not So Silent Night Local Band Competition. We did not advance to the top 5. However, we sincerely appreciate everyone going out of his or her way to vote.

Some of you may have tuned in a few Sunday nights ago on Justin.TV where we did a live webcast. We normally don’t fancy that type of thing but we found it to be quite enjoyable. I believe we may start doing a monthly webcast where we’ll welcome questions and comments. To watch our last broadcast and for future reference, our Justin.TV profile can be found here-

Moving along, we were recently awarded the Bay Bridged Recording Grant. The grant is for three days of studio time at John Vanderslice’s prestigious recording studio, Tiny Telephone in San Francisco. Tiny Telephone has had an amazing clientele over the years. Including, but not limited to, Death Cab For Cutie, Deerhoof, Rogue Wave, Spoon, and Two Gallants. We are very excited about this for a number of reasons.

1. Because of it’s vast collection of analog gear, impressive roster of clients and house engineers, we have always wanted to record at this studio!
2. Because of the grant, we are able to record a new song that we wouldn’t have otherwise been able to do for the Three Words EP.
3. Scott McDowell, the engineer we will be working with has done some amazing work. Most of which can be heard here – http://slowchildren.com/

To prepare ourselves for these upcoming sessions, we’ve been rehearsing rigorously and demo recording the new song (currently untitled) in our unbelievably cold practice space in Walnut Creek. We’re really proud of it and think you’ll understand why once you hear it…

In more member specific news, Nick Clark (aka Dick Shark) has recently moved into a new apartment in Berkeley and off the floor of mine. He’s also gotten himself a pretty sharp new haircut, too. Nick’s place happens to be right around the corner from Sean “Moon Dragon” Gaffney’s sweet pad. So, as you can imagine, they’ve been spending some real quality time together.

Charlie Koliha aka Funky Down Preston has been living life to the fullest – at Nick’s place. In fact, I’ve never been to Nick’s place without Charlie randomly dropping by. Also, we’ve been talking a lot about people’s spirit animals lately. We came up with a Camel for Charlie. You be the judge:

That about wraps up this episode of “Rob updates the Loveless site cause the rest of the band is too lazy.”

Till next time!

Yours,
rob
